Mont Idyll Cheese

A pasteurized goat cheese made by Idyll Farms in northern Michigan, using the farm’s own seasonal goat milk. Like the French goat cheese Valencay, Mont Idyll has dark gray vegetable ash under its edible rind.
Mont Idyll is a Michigan-made version of a cheese from France called Valencay. The name makes more sense when you see it: Mont Idyll is shaped like a little mountain missing its peak. The form is made from goat cheese and painted with the classic gray ash which creates a striking contrast of color. Lightly aged, this isn't the fresh goat cheese you might use as a spread. This one's a little firmer, but with the same fresh citric flavors. This mountain is a work of art with a delicate rind and defined shape. Quite impressive on a cheese board. Named a “Best Artisanal Cheese” by Food & Wine Magazine and recipient of many American Cheese Society awards, this cheese is perfect for the connoisseur, foodie, or even casual cheese eater.
