Bauer Butterkase Cheese

Butterkase is a semi-soft cheese made from pasteurized cow's milk. Butterkase has a buttery flavor, and is on the mild side. This German gourmet cheese it also melts fantastically, great for cheese sauce, mac and cheese, grilled cheese, and more.

Butterkase (Butter Cheese) is a rindless cheese that indeed looks like a big piece of butter, and is meant to taste like one too. The cheese is made by the German company Bauer, a company that was founded in 1887 by Franz Bauer and today the 5th generation of Bauers is at the helm.

Butterkase is a semi-soft cheese made from pasteurized cow's milk. It can be sliced when cold, but if warmed up to room temperature the slicing will be a little more difficult, as this creamy cheese will stick to the knife. It is gluten and lactose free.

Butterkase has a buttery flavor, and is on the mild side. This German gourmet cheese it also melts fantastically, great for cheese sauce, mac and cheese, grilled cheese, and more.

Serve it with Pilsener beer or a Chardonnay, or German Riesling wine.
