North Sea Cheese
This gourmet cheeses has a smooth, slightly sweet yet piquant flavor, balanced with surprising tang, nuttiness and a hint of North Sea saltiness. Super flavorful and truly fabulous: one of our favorite new cheeses in a long time.
North Sea Cheese is a gouda style cheese, made in Denmark. The Danes call this cheese Vesterhavsost, named after the town of Vesterhav in North Jutland, a place very close to the North Sea coast. It is the location of the warehouse, where the cheese ages, that gives the cheese its unique flavor. Large installations in the warehouse push the salty sea air through, which affects the aging and flavor of the wheels as they age for about 8 months. The milk for the North Sea Cheese comes from local organic farmers, who all farm close the the North Sea.
A perfect cheese to eat in chunks. When sliced thinly you can use it in sauces and grilled cheese.
