Fontal Cheese
Fontal is the everyday-use version of its more polished cousin Fontina Val d'Aosta. It has excellent cooking and melting qualities and extremely snackable.
Fontal is part of the Fontina family, a relative of the famous Fontina Val d'Aosta from Northern Italy. But Fontal isn't as fussy as its assertive cousin. This is a working cheese - one meant to serve any need, and do it well. Fontal is a 'Go To' cheese for almost every occasion and pairing.
The cheese has a semi-soft golden paste, with a nutty and mild flavor. At its most basic, a table cheese with crackers. But it's a great melting cheese for sauces, thickly shredded over pasta, pizza, or pressed into a gooey grilled sandwich. The bouncy paste is a bit more supple, mild and sweet. This mainstay always performs perfectly.
Among the many pairings, that you can try, may we suggest fresh fruit and figs or dried salami.
